Private Pilot License

PPL is the basic licence required to take up flying as a recreation or private sport. PPL allows its holder the privileges of flying as Captain or co-pilot of an aircraft not for the purpose of public transport or aerial work.

Basic Prerequisites

  • You must complete Class XII under the 10+2 system or its equivalent with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in maths and physics.
  • You must be at least 16 years of age to be eligible for a Student Pilot License, 17 for a Private Pilot License.
  • Class 2 Medical Assessment. Class 2 Medical Exam Centers.
  • Adequate competency in the English language.

PPL is issued by the Director General of Civil Aviation, New Delhi after a written examination conducted by Director General of Civil Aviation.

Minimum 40 Hours Of Flying, Out Of Which 20 Hours Of Solo Flying And A Pass In The Following Subjects:

  • Air Regulation
  • Air Navigation
  • Aviation Meteorology
  • Aircraft & Engines (General & Specific)
